The most common burger establishment in London is "the GBK." They are everywhere and win all kinds of awards and blah blah blah. They have a pretty impressive menu, with burgers all over the taste globe. Their burgers are 100% Aberdeen-Angus Scotch beef and pretty hefty. I had the blue cheese, which had Stilton dressing. My beautiful dining companion had one with aged cheddar, salad, mayonnaise & relish. This is mine:

It was decent. The cheese was toned down enough that you couldn't quite realize it was Stilton. THAT IS NOT WHY I ORDERED IT. If I had wanted a weak blue cheese burger I would have ordered one. But I ordered Stilton. A robust and strong-ass cheese. Instead I got something like cheese mayo. Here's the "innards."

Overall, the burger wasn't bad. Annie thought the sesame seeds on the bun were overpowering, because they were toasted to the point of burning. Also, neither of us liked the weird relish they put on without asking. I think it was sweet onion or something. Oh, and I washed it down with a Budweiser.
Yeah, I don't know what's up with that either. It wasn't bad though...
Giraffe
I think this is like the TGI Fridays of Britain. Their motto is "Love, Eat, Live" and the waiters and waitresses wear "flair" a la Jennifer Aniston in Office Space. I ordered a Kofta Lamb Burger. Delicious with lamb and chickpeas in the patty and hummus on the bun. Definitely one of the better non-beef burgers I've ever had. Yeah, yeah it's a chain, but the burger was GOOOOD.
Look at that little spicy stuff on the side. That is the first time I've seen that as a burger condiment and it went well with the yogurty cucumber sauce on the burger. That little bit went a long way; it was HOT. I want some just to keep in my kitchen.
Of the three, this is the best burger I had. Nothing fancy, just a quality burger with a simple sesame bun, basic toppings and home-made mayo. The ground beef had a little bit of onion mixed in and it was just enough to give it some delicious subtle flavor. This is my favorite of the bunch. Leave it to a fine dining restaurant to take the time to get something so simple so right.

There wasn't anyone else around and we weren't close to the the Jolly Fisherman so the duty fell to me to find a place to celebrate. We went to an amazing restaurant on the south side of the Thames. Harry Potter was at the table behind us. Gordon Ramsay's favorite maitre'd used to work there before Gordon snatched him up and put him on "The F Word." At lunch, they serve a pretty awesome burger along with all their other cuisine. Here's a look at their burger on fancy custom china:

I may be back for it, so I'm hoping your choices reek of Americana. Is there a Fuddrucker's nearby? Big Boy?
