The Corner Bistro Bangs Your Mom

There are few things in this world that are quite as enjoyable as a good burger:

1) Sex
2) Family Guy marathons
3) A cold beer on a hot summer day

But to go beyond good, in my mind at least is a challenge - a quest, if you will. The Corner Bistro steps up and entices your taste buds to explore frontiers they may never have known before - or have known a long time ago and have forgotten.

The eats and brews are cheap. Nothing here is more than $7 (except the bourbon).

The seasoned veterans and well informed virgins order the Bistro Burger, medium rare with a plate of fries to share. Because what is better than scarfing down perfection in the form of a meat patty topped with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a hint of catsup served on a paper plate and dripping in its own deliciousness? Ordering seconds...which none of us did last Tuesday, February 26th, 2008. But we thought about it. Oh, did we think about it.

Good times were had by all...especially Roland.

But alas, our stomachs - even though they craved more meat - settled for more beer at the White Horse Tavern instead. Just a bunch of guys who like to hang out and eat burgers soothing their sorrows (or lack thereof) with a cool pint.

Will we return as a group? Perhaps - one day. For now though, there are countless other venues for us to conquer. McDonald's, BK, Wendy's, White Castle, Checker's, Whataburger, Hardee's - we salute you! But we'll let the underprivileged taste buds bask in your glory. We'll keep it simple - keep it real - ground sirloin or bust, baby!

Good thoughts Sam...I think I feel pretty much the same:

Among the many techniques employed in making the perfect burger – creative seasoning, bun style, accoutrements (serving plates)– the most significant might be to leave it alone. There is a reason why the Corner Bistro has been a long time standard while other joints seem to come and blow. The Bistro Burger is a charming char-grill gift on a bun and by that I mean it enticed us all into thoughts for seconds. In major categories this place makes big marks: The burger - a simple, thick, bun filling patty. It was akin to the perfect backyard burger but better balanced with juicy meat and crispy bacon. The accouterments L,T & P were solid, and more importantly the fries kicked it into high-gear-good-eats. Oh, and as Sam mentioned cheap tasty beers. The draw backs are few: the bun could use a major upgrade and the place is just a bit too popular (for good reason) expect to wait. All in all I look forward to going back.
